Mayor Lurie, Speaker Emerita Pelosi Celebrate the Landmark CityBuild Program's 20th Anniversary

Mayor Daniel Lurie commemorated the 20th anniversary of CityBuild with Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, celebrating its significant contributions to San Francisco's workforce. The program has graduated over 2,100 residents and placed nearly 1,800 in union apprenticeships, marking an 86% placement rate. Lurie noted that CityBuild exemplifies collaboration among government, labor, and the private sector to create career pathways. His administration has also launched initiatives to enhance building projects and improve housing affordability for future generations. Pelosi described CityBuild as a catalyst for good-paying jobs, strengthening families and communities.

California Governor Gavin Newsom praised the program as a successful model for inclusive economic development. Graduate Meg-Anne Pryor shared her personal success story, emphasizing the program's role in shaping her career in construction. CityBuild continues to play a crucial role in equipping residents with the skills necessary for the building trades.
