Mayor Lurie Announces New Partnership to Keep San Francisco Streets Clean, Revitalize Commercial Corridors

San Francisco, CALocal News

Mayor Daniel Lurie announced a new $3 million partnership with Avenue Greenlight to enhance street cleaning efforts in San Francisco's high-traffic neighborhoods. This initiative aims to improve cleanliness, boost community pride, and support the city's economic recovery by expanding existing maintenance programs. Lurie has prioritized clean and safe streets, implementing various reforms to revitalize downtown and aid small businesses. The program will build on San Francisco Public Works' current operations, which include deep cleaning, graffiti removal, and community engagement. Lurie stated, “Clean streets are key to our comeback,” highlighting the importance of vibrant neighborhoods for local businesses.

The initiative aligns with other efforts, such as PermitSF, which streamlines the permitting process for small businesses. Additionally, Lurie’s Breaking the Cycle plan addresses homelessness and public safety. By collaborating with local partners, the program aims to create a more responsive and effective maintenance strategy for the city.
