San Francisco, CALocal News

Mayor Daniel Lurie announced a $9. 4 million investment to establish a new headquarters for the San Francisco Police Department’s Real-Time Investigation Center (RTIC). The facility, donated in-kind by Ripple, will enhance the SFPD's crime-fighting technology and support ongoing public safety initiatives. Under Lurie's leadership, overall crime in San Francisco has decreased by nearly 30%, showcasing the effectiveness of his strategies. The new headquarters will provide modern tools and resources, aligning with Lurie's proposed budget that maintains current staffing levels for sworn officers.

The RTIC has been instrumental in assisting with over 500 arrests in the past year, which has contributed to a 41% decrease in auto theft. Lurie's "Rebuilding the Ranks" plan aims to fully staff the SFPD and Sheriff’s Office, ensuring adequate resources for law enforcement. Chris Larsen of Ripple expressed pride in supporting a new era of public safety technology in San Francisco. This investment underscores a commitment to improving public safety and accountability in the city.
