Day 100 at the 16th St. Plaza Some surprises and a first

San Francisco, CALocal News

The sidewalk outside La Fenix at 1950 Mission St. has remained clear of drug users for the first time in months, signaling a positive change in the area. Police officers and DPW workers have actively worked to manage the situation, achieving a noticeable reduction in visible drug use at the northeast plaza. Jose Velazquez reported seeing groups at the plaza but noted the absence of open-air drug use during his observations. Families residing at La Fenix have struggled with the adverse conditions, making this improvement crucial for their well-being.

While some vending and drug use persist further south on Mission Street, the overall situation has improved significantly. The Five Key security guards have played a pivotal role in maintaining safety and order, especially on Capp Street. The community's vigilance over the last 100 days has been essential in achieving this progress. Continued monitoring and support from local authorities remain crucial for sustaining these positive changes.
