Someone Shipped 25 Kilos of Meth on a Plane From SF to New Zealand and Customs Agents Intercepted It
On June 14, New Zealand Customs agents intercepted a backpack filled with methamphetamine at Auckland International Airport. The bag, which arrived on a flight from San Francisco, was flagged by border partners due to inconsistencies detected during x-ray screening. Upon inspection, agents found a vacuum-sealed package that tested positive for meth. Chief Customs Officer Tracy Henderson noted the ongoing collaboration between border agencies to disrupt organized crime involved in drug importation. The specific flight associated with the backpack is still unclear, as multiple airlines operate between San Francisco and Auckland.
This interception highlights the ongoing challenges customs officials face in preventing drug smuggling. Last month, a woman was arrested at San Francisco International Airport for attempting to transport 151 pounds of marijuana to Germany. Such incidents underscore the need for vigilance in addressing drug trafficking across international borders.
