The next move for one of S.F.s wealthiest political groups? A new blueprint (and podcast).

San Francisco's political elite congregated at the Westin St. Francis hotel to celebrate the launch of the Blueprint for a Better San Francisco initiative. This organization aims to strengthen moderate political forces in the city after the failure of its predecessor, TogetherSF, which spent $9. 5 million on a ballot measure that was decisively defeated. Scotty Jacobs, the new director of Blueprint, highlighted the group's dedication to pragmatic governance during the event.

With an annual budget of $2 million, the initiative plans to support moderate local candidates and address pressing city governance issues. Jacobs indicated that the first priority is assisting Mayor Daniel Lurie in passing his budget, which includes budget cuts and layoffs to manage a steep deficit. Notably, billionaire Michael Moritz, a significant financier of TogetherSF, was absent from the event, raising questions about his ongoing support. Jacobs also referred to recent events in Union Square as a reflection of the city's recovery journey and community spirit. The initiative will also launch a podcast and open a meeting space in Hayes Valley later this summer.
