Suspect Still at Large After Minnesota Lawmakers Shot in Deadly Targeted Attack

San Francisco, CALocal News

A politically motivated shooting in Minnesota resulted in the deaths of State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, while State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were critically injured. The suspect, 57-year-old Vance Boelter, allegedly impersonated a police officer during the attack, which unfolded at Hortman’s residence. Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, launched a manhunt, issuing alerts to border patrol agents.

Boelter was found to have survival gear and a hit list in his vehicle, primarily targeting pro-choice lawmakers. Senator Amy Klobuchar highlighted Hortman's commitment to women's rights and community service during her tenure. The FBI is now offering up to $50,000 for information leading to Boelter's capture. Governor Tim Walz described the incident as a targeted political assassination. Community members are urged to remain vigilant as the investigation continues.
