San Francisco, other Bay Area cities prepare for 'No Kings Day' protest
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and city officials are preparing for the "No Kings" protests on Saturday, coinciding with a military parade in Washington, D. C. Thousands are expected to participate in demonstrations opposing President Trump and his immigration policies. Lurie stressed the need for peaceful protests after nearly 150 arrests occurred during a recent violent protest. San Francisco Police Chief Paul Yep assured the public that law enforcement would be fully staffed and ready to respond to any incidents.
District Attorney Brooke Jenkins emphasized that any acts of violence or vandalism would lead to criminal charges. The city's Public Works Department is also coordinating a cleanup plan for graffiti, clarifying that property owners are responsible for damage. Protesters in San Francisco will gather at Mission Dolores Park before marching to Civic Center Plaza, featuring speakers from community organizations. Similar protests are expected in other Bay Area cities, reflecting widespread community concern about the current administration.
