Day 95 at the 16th St. Plaza Police cars, police cars, police cars

San Francisco, CALocal News

On Friday afternoon, police dispatched three cars to Wiese Street to address drug activity, successfully dispersing about 25 users shortly after their arrival at 12:13 p. m. Despite this, many returned within minutes, necessitating further police intervention. John, a technician installing new security cameras for La Fenix, observed the persistent loitering problem in the area. A nearby security guard noted that increased police patrols over the past three weeks have reduced drug activity, highlighting the importance of consistent law enforcement presence.

Patrol cars remained active in the vicinity, with one officer clearing loiterers near the BART station. The area saw a temporary reduction in drug users, although some remained scattered across Wiese and other nearby streets. The ongoing presence of Mobile Command Two in the southwest plaza continues to monitor the situation. Local authorities are working to implement stronger security measures to address the persistent drug issues in the neighborhood.
