A man in his 30s died in a fatal crash at the border of the Portola and Bayview neighborhoods on Saturday. He lost control of his white Dodge Challenger shortly before noon while exiting Highway 101, causing the vehicle to flip. Investigators from the SF Fire Department reported that the driver was already dead when first responders arrived at the scene. The dog traveling with him suffered serious injuries and was taken to SF Animal Care and Control for treatment. The California Highway Patrol temporarily closed the Paul Avenue exit for several hours following the incident.

The dog’s current medical condition remains unknown. This crash highlights the dangers of high-speed driving and loss of vehicle control on busy highways. Data from the California Highway Patrol indicate that single-vehicle crashes can lead to severe injuries and fatalities, underscoring the need for increased road safety measures.
