Frustrated UCSF Parnassus employees struggle to park due to new policy empty off-limits spots seen
Employees at UCSF's Parnassus Campus are voicing their anger over new parking policies that limit on-site parking for most staff. Implemented on June 1, the changes intend to enhance patient access but have created significant challenges for employees. Radiologic technologist Chris Jacinto remarked on the empty parking levels, while registered nurse Brandon highlighted the poor communication from management regarding the new rules. Without validation, parking costs have risen to $60 a day, placing a financial burden on staff. National Nurses United expressed disappointment in UCSF management's failure to consider how these changes impact patient care, warning of potential delays as staff wait for shuttles.
Some employees have been ticketed while attempting to park at alternative lots, further exacerbating frustrations. The union also pointed out a violation of their collective bargaining agreement due to an unauthorized 58 percent increase in parking fees. Employees continue to feel let down, questioning the hospital's commitment to staff welfare.
