San Francisco police arrested 18-year-old Javier Morando Velasquez in connection with the homicide of 19-year-old Luis Manuel Arguello-Inglis, who was shot in Dolores Park on June 5, 2024. Arguello-Inglis, a graduate of Lowell High School and known as "Lucho," was shot multiple times at 10 p. m. and died at the scene from his injuries. Velasquez was arrested on May 25 for the homicide and faced additional charges, including carrying a dagger and a loaded firearm.
Friends have shared their memories of Arguello-Inglis, emphasizing his deep bond with the park where he often spent time. The recent donation of $12,000 by Mayor Daniel Lurie and his wife for a memorial reflects the community's commitment to honoring his legacy. This shooting underscores the ongoing issue of gun violence in urban areas. Velasquez, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, is currently incarcerated in County Jail No. 2.
