Elections Dept. certifies Joel Engardio recall 95.8 of signatures deemed valid

San Francisco, CALocal News

The Department of Elections confirmed the recall petition against District 4 Supervisor Joel Engardio, registering 10,523 valid signatures, well above the necessary 9,911. A special election is set for September 16, exclusively for District 4 voters. Engardio expressed confidence in his continued support from the community, emphasizing his commitment to public safety and local businesses. The recall effort arose from dissatisfaction with his support for Prop. K, which restricted vehicle access on the Upper Great Highway.

Recall supporters criticized Engardio for not sufficiently engaging with constituents before placing the measure on the ballot. They argue that the measure has negatively impacted the community. In response, Engardio has pledged to improve communication and outreach efforts regarding traffic and safety concerns. The outcome of the upcoming election will be pivotal for Engardio’s political future.
