2 dogs die in fire at SF Noe Valley house with 'hoarding' conditions, SFFD says
A devastating house fire in San Francisco's Noe Valley resulted in the deaths of two dogs on Monday morning. The fire, which occurred at a residence on 26th Street, left the building completely destroyed, according to the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD). Firefighters struggled to control the blaze due to "hoarding" conditions that blocked access to the home. One resident successfully evacuated, while three others were displaced; one visitor was initially unaccounted for but had left the scene before emergency crews arrived. The SFFD's arson task force is investigating the incident, although no indication of arson has been confirmed.
The loss of the dogs deeply affected resident Pitchaw Thongkom, who described them as his only remaining connection to his late husband. Additionally, power was temporarily disrupted in the area but has since been restored by PG&E. Local officials emphasize the importance of addressing hoarding situations to improve safety during emergencies.
