Man Fatally Shot In Mid-Afternoon Near Fisherman's Wharf, Suspect Turns Himself In
A man was fatally shot in San Francisco near Fisherman's Wharf on Wednesday afternoon, marking the city's ninth homicide of the year. The incident occurred around 1:10 pm at the intersection of Columbus Avenue and North Point Street. The victim, found in his car two blocks away, had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Witness Jeremy Yi described seeing the victim in distress as he drove away from the shooting. A male suspect later turned himself in at Central Station, approximately nine blocks from the crime scene, reportedly admitting to the shooting.
Surveillance footage obtained by ABC 7 showed the suspect firing an assault-style rifle at the victim's car. Mayor Daniel Lurie commended the swift response of the SFPD, emphasizing the city's intolerance for such violence. The recovery of at least four bullet casings from the scene indicates the severity of the incident.
