Presidio Terrace Senior Home on the Market for 58 Million, Could Become Large Development

San Francisco, CALocal News

The St. Anne’s Home senior care facility in San Francisco is on the market for $58. 5 million after its closure in January, with the property drawing interest from potential developers. This six-acre site could be transformed into a much larger development, raising concerns among local residents about traffic and community character. The City of San Francisco is keen on maximizing housing development to meet its target of 82,000 new housing units by 2031.

Planning Commission Director Rich Hillis emphasized the site's potential for significant housing capacity. Anonymous developers have suggested that the site could accommodate up to 350 units or a mix of multifamily homes and single-family residences. Residents have previously voiced opposition to such developments, citing concerns over increased congestion and loss of greenspace. The final decision regarding the sale will be made by the Little Sisters of the Poor, who seek a buyer that aligns with their mission. Given the asking price, it is unlikely that the new owner will establish another nursing home.
