Arrest Leads to Seizure of Meth at Vallejo Home, as Well as Endangered Monkey, Live Rattlesnakes
A traffic stop in Solano County resulted in the arrest of Clifford Vincenty, 50, who was found with half a pound of methamphetamine in his vehicle. Following his arrest on April 6, authorities searched his Vallejo home and discovered an additional pound of meth, $2,000 in cash, and three illegal pets, including an endangered spider monkey named Violeta. The Oakland Zoo has taken Violeta for care, highlighting the illegal pet trade's impact on these animals. Colleen Kinzley from the zoo noted that many spider monkeys suffer severe consequences from being captured and kept as pets. California law prohibits keeping primates, especially endangered ones, which raises concerns about the treatment of such animals in captivity.
The two live rattlesnakes found at the home will be released into the wild. Undersheriff Brad DeWall reaffirmed the commitment to combating illegal drug activities in the region. The investigation is ongoing, and local authorities encourage the public to provide any relevant information.
