S.F. police chase sends suspects fleeing into startled neighbors backyards

A police chase on San Jose Avenue in Glen Park resulted in two suspects fleeing into nearby backyards, leading to a substantial police operation. Witnesses described a chaotic scene with officers from Daly City and a California Highway Patrol helicopter responding after 5 p. m. One resident confronted a suspect, who seemed frightened and tried to escape by jumping a fence. Judy Lepe called 911 upon seeing a young man in a white T-shirt move through her backyard.

Police arrested one suspect and deployed drones and a police dog to aid in the search. Officers found items, including a jacket and a glove, believed to belong to the suspects in a nearby yard. David Emanuel, another resident, reported being ordered indoors while the search continued. This incident highlights the challenges of urban policing and the community's response to crime.
