Police Fatally Shoot Armed Man Who Was Firing Gun In South San Francisco

South San Francisco police fatally shot a man Monday evening following a shootout on Arroyo Drive. The suspect, a white male in his 60s, reportedly fired at officers and into an occupied home shortly after police arrived around 5:50 p. m. Witnesses described hearing a barrage of gunfire, with one neighbor estimating he heard 30 to 40 shots in a matter of minutes. Police reported that the man was armed with both a handgun and a shotgun, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thankfully, no officers or civilians were injured during the confrontation. Neighbors expressed shock over the violent incident in their typically quiet neighborhood. Authorities have not yet identified the suspect, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Residents with information are encouraged to contact the South San Francisco Police Department.
