This Saturday, luchadores from Mexico and the Bay Area will take the ring at Buena Vista Horace Mann School to raise funds for arts programs amid severe budget cuts. The event, called “La Gran Fiesta,” is set for noon to 5 p. m. and aims to collect at least $10,000 for the school’s arts initiatives. Buena Vista Horace Mann has faced a $1.

5 million funding loss this school year, resulting in the elimination of two teaching positions. The PTA plans to use the funds to support various programs, including a dance instructor and an arts coordinator. Activities will feature Lucha Libre matches, live salsa and mariachi music, and a kid’s zone with games. Pritchett expressed disappointment over the cuts that have strained the PTA's budget. Despite these challenges, the school's arts-enrichment coordinator, Bob Armstrong, emphasized the importance of providing access to the city’s cultural resources for students.
