A fire at the East Bay Media Center in Berkeley caused extensive damage early Monday morning, leading to the evacuation of adjacent apartments. The blaze ignited around 3 AM, with firefighters noting that the fire was intensified by "dense storage" within the facility. Battalion Chief Brian Harryman reported heavy smoke and flames upon arrival, prompting a swift evacuation of residents from nearby complexes. Thankfully, no individuals were present in the Media Center during the incident, and there were no injuries reported among firefighters. The situation was managed by 5:30 AM, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Founded in 1980, the East Bay Media Center has served as an invaluable resource for community arts education and technology access.
