Day 207 at the 16th St. Plaza Trucks move onto the plaza

San Francisco, CALocal News

The area around 16th and Mission Streets has transformed, with the west side remaining remarkably clear of vendors, creating a calmer atmosphere. Terraine Miller, a supervisor with Ahsing Solutions, stated that the west side has become "almost boring" compared to its previous chaotic state. Meanwhile, the east side continues to face issues, particularly after 5 p. m. , as the city prepares for a new affordable housing project that may reduce vendor space.

Increased police presence and the sight of empty BART trucks have helped deter problematic behavior. Miller has noted that police have been responsive to calls, aiding in maintaining order. The situation on Capp Street has also shifted, with gatherings moving from south of 16th Street to the north side. Caledonia Street, which has been more problematic, appeared nearly clear during the last visit, although conditions may change after hours. Recent photos capture the current state of both the southwest and northeast plazas.
