Ukiah High School's varsity football team will compete in the Division 3 championship Friday at 7 p. m. against El Cerrito High School. The Wildcats secured their place with a nail-biting 21-20 win over top-seeded Vintage High School, where a two-point conversion attempt fortuitously bounced off a referee and was caught by a Ukiah player for the winning score. With an overall record of 8-4, the Wildcats previously defeated Antioch High School 26-15 in the first round.
El Cerrito, the No. 3 seed, advanced to the finals by beating Rancho Cotate High School 26-9 in their semifinal match. The championship game will take place at a neutral site, American Canyon High School, located at 3000 Newell Drive. Fans can also watch the game live online.
