Day 207 at the 16th St. Plaza Trucks move onto the plaza

San Francisco, CALocal News

West Mission Street has transformed into a calmer environment as vendors have largely cleared out, according to Terraine Miller, a supervisor with Ahsing Solutions. This area, once chaotic, now feels almost dull. In contrast, the east side of Mission Street remains problematic, especially after 5 p. m. Miller noted that the city anticipates construction on an affordable housing project early next year, which is expected to limit vendor presence.

Police presence and crews from the Department of Public Works have contributed to this newfound calm. Miller underscored the effectiveness of police response, which he has on speed dial. Notably, activity patterns have shifted, with individuals previously congregating on Capp Street now moving to the north side of 16th Street near Marshall Elementary School. Caledonia Street, which has been more problematic, showed signs of improvement during recent visits.
