Mayor Luries latest task for District 4 hopefuls a little weekend homework

San Francisco, CALocal News

Mayor Daniel Lurie introduces a new selection process for the District 4 supervisor, emphasizing thorough vetting and community input. Candidates must engage with district residents and submit their findings by Sunday at 8 p. m. The shortlist includes Natalie Gee, Alan Wong, Albert Chow, Ike Kwon, and Tiffany Deng. This process follows the resignation of Beya Alcaraz, who left her position shortly after reports of questionable business practices.

Lurie admitted his past mistakes in the appointment process and seeks to ensure success this time. Each candidate has completed a detailed five-page questionnaire covering various topics and has had at least one interview with the mayor's staff. The candidates' community engagement efforts will be evaluated in subsequent interviews, and they attended a recent meeting to connect with residents. Lurie expressed confidence in the new process, though he acknowledged that not everyone may be satisfied with the final choice.
