Mayor Lurie Celebrates New Affordable Senior Housing in Inner Richmond
Mayor Daniel Lurie inaugurated the 100% affordable housing development at 383 Sixth Avenue in San Francisco's Inner Richmond, which will provide 98 homes for low-income and formerly homeless seniors. The seven-story building includes 41 studio and 57 one-bedroom apartments, with 20 units reserved for seniors exiting homelessness and additional units for veteran seniors. This project is a collaboration between the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) and various city and state funding sources, including the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development. Lurie highlighted the necessity of stable housing for seniors, asserting that “no one should have to leave their neighborhood” for stability. District 1 Supervisor Connie Chan noted that funding from the 2019 Affordable Housing Bond was essential to move this initiative forward.
The development represents a significant step in Lurie's broader efforts to enhance housing affordability in San Francisco, which includes the Family Zoning plan. TNDC CEO Jennifer Dolin emphasized the project as a model for integrating affordable housing into diverse neighborhoods. By addressing housing needs for vulnerable populations, this initiative aims to foster a more inclusive and resilient community in San Francisco.
