Mayra Pérez, CEO of Toro Taxes, noted that construction has repeatedly blocked access to her shopping center, leading to lost revenue. District 5 Councilmember Peter Ortiz stressed the importance of addressing the financial hardships faced by local businesses during this project.

He recalled similar disruptions from past construction projects that harmed small businesses. Residents and business owners have conveyed their concerns weekly to Ortiz's office, prompting calls for more robust support. The VTA plans to finalize the assistance program, aiming to balance construction needs with community impacts.
