Day 238 at the 16th St. Plaza Pinky and his plushies
Pinky Midili, a 62-year-old man, resides at Jazzie’s Place, a shelter for LGBTQ+ individuals in San Francisco's Mission District. Known for his colorful personality and collection of stuffed animals, he has spent six years traveling across the country in a large RV. Recently, he introduced his favorite plush toys, such as “Froggy Pooh” and “Boing,” while sitting in a wheelchair at the 16th Street BART Plaza. Despite facing significant health challenges, including congestive heart failure, Pinky maintains a cheerful outlook and enjoys interacting with the community. He acknowledges his health issues but remains unfazed, stating, “I feel fine.
” Pinky hopes to find a living arrangement that provides him with his own room, as he continues to engage with friends and vendors in the area. His story highlights the resilience and spirit of individuals navigating life's hardships while fostering community connections. The presence of vendors and a lively atmosphere around the plaza underscores the vibrant life of the Mission District.
