Healdsburg librarys BiblioBike wins nat'l award for bringing books to the community - Local News Matters
The Healdsburg Regional Library's BiblioBike won the Book Bike Outreach Programming Award from the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services, recognizing its innovative outreach efforts. This mobile library, a tricycle with a storage box, started during the pandemic to safely connect with the community outdoors. It has become a staple at local events, including farmers’ markets and parades, offering books and resources to families. Branch manager Jon Haupt noted that the BiblioBike has positively impacted the community over the past four years. Librarian Charity Anderson emphasized the joy of facilitating story times at Giorgi Park, turning them into lively family gatherings.
The award was presented at the ABOS annual conference in St. Louis, Missouri, in October. The library aims to continue expanding its outreach efforts to further engage the community. The BiblioBike exemplifies how libraries can adapt and innovate to meet the needs of their patrons.
