Raiders make 250K donation to help repair fire-damaged Concord school football field - Local News Matters

San Francisco, CALocal News

The Las Vegas Raiders donated $250,000 to help repair the Mt. Diablo High School football field in Concord, which was severely damaged by a fire on August 24. Investigators identified surveillance footage showing individuals setting off fireworks on the field, leading to the fire that melted a significant portion of the newly installed synthetic turf. Consequently, the school's football team had to move their home opener to Concord High School. Last month, repair crews replaced the damaged turf, and the new center logo was installed earlier in October.

The Raiders’ donation will cover the insurance deductible for the total repair costs, which approached $350,000. District Superintendent Adam Clark expressed gratitude for the Raiders' support, highlighting the community's need for a prideful learning environment. Concord police continue to investigate the incident but have not announced any arrests. The newly repaired field will host the MDHS homecoming game against Ygnacio Valley High School on Friday evening.
