Santa Rosa security guard arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, ICE intimidation

San Francisco, CALocal News

Peni Cere, a 42-year-old Santa Rosa security guard, faces serious charges for allegedly posing as law enforcement and sexually assaulting a woman while threatening her with deportation to ICE. The assault reportedly occurred in July when the victim was sleeping in her vehicle. A family member encouraged her to report the crime, leading to an investigation that identified Cere as the suspect. He was arrested after police conducted surveillance in a parking lot on College Avenue. Cere is charged with assault with intent to commit rape and intimidation, and is currently held without bail.

The Santa Rosa Police Department believes there may be more victims who are too scared to come forward, emphasizing that all victims can seek help without fear of immigration repercussions. The department reassured the community that its policy prohibits officers from inquiring about immigration status. Local organizations provide confidential support services for sexual assault victims, regardless of their immigration status.
