Mayor Lurie Celebrates New Recovery and Treatment Centers Serving Clients
Mayor Daniel Lurie announced the launch of three new recovery-focused interim housing programs, adding approximately 200 beds for individuals facing homelessness and addiction challenges. The Eleanora Fagan Center, Hope House, and Wells Place will provide essential recovery and treatment options under Lurie's Breaking the Cycle initiative. This initiative aims to radically transform the city's response to homelessness by creating integrated outreach teams and establishing a $37. 5 million fund for treatment resources. Lurie highlighted the importance of connecting individuals to the right services as part of a comprehensive strategy for long-term stability.
San Francisco Department of Public Health Director Daniel Tsai noted that these programs will provide a full continuum of care, from immediate stabilization to post-treatment recovery housing. The openings of these centers are expected to improve the flow of individuals through the city's shelter and housing system. Additionally, San Francisco has opened a short-term stabilization center to assist individuals in crisis. This comprehensive approach reflects a growing commitment to addressing the intertwined issues of homelessness and addiction in the city.
