Benicia-Martinez Bridge work halted due to supply delays Carquinez closures continue

San Francisco, CALocal News

Caltrans has temporarily halted work on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge for up to four weeks due to supply delays, while inspections and repairs on the Carquinez Bridge continue as planned. These projects are part of the T1 Steel Weld Inspection Project, which is vital for preserving the structural integrity of both bridges. Despite the delay, Caltrans assured that closures on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge will end in December. Carquinez Bridge closures remain on schedule through September, depending on weather conditions. The planned closures include eastbound I-80 lanes 3 and 4 from Refinery Road to the Carquinez Toll Plaza, with specific hours set for lane closures.

The eastbound I-80 on-ramp from Pomona Street and San Pablo Avenue will also be closed. Caltrans has warned drivers to expect minor delays and to proceed with caution through work zones. These maintenance efforts are essential to ensure safety and longevity for commuters using these major routes.
