Donations pour in for family of 4-year-old boy fatally struck by vehicle in Burlingame

San Francisco, CALocal News

The Burlingame community has rallied to raise over $54,000 for grief counseling following the tragic death of 4-year-old Ayden Fang, killed by a vehicle while on a sidewalk earlier this month. In the same crash, a 6-year-old girl sustained injuries but is expected to survive, according to the Burlingame Police Department. The vehicle involved accelerated onto the sidewalk after being struck by an e-bike. The driver, a 19-year-old from San Mateo, has cooperated with investigators, and police do not suspect alcohol or drugs contributed to the incident. The family plans to use the donations for therapy and to advocate for improved pedestrian safety in San Mateo County.

“Some ideas include improving pedestrian safety or donations to Ayden’s school for future generations of children,” Deng noted. Michael Deng, Ayden's uncle, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of community support during this difficult time. The family aims to honor Ayden's memory through meaningful contributions to the community.
