Richmond Police Shoot and Kill Man Who Was Allegedly Wielding Knives and Threatening People
Richmond police officers fatally shot a man wielding multiple knives during a domestic dispute on Monday evening. The confrontation occurred shortly after 5 PM on the 400 block of First Street, where officers responded to reports of a knife-wielding suspect threatening individuals inside a home. Upon arrival, officers announced their presence and were met by the man, who allegedly possessed at least one knife and possibly a second edged weapon. Two officers discharged their weapons, resulting in the man's death on-site, as confirmed by local news outlets. Neighbors reported hearing seven to eight shots, questioning the necessity of such a response to a knife threat.
Police have yet to identify the victim or confirm if he resided at the home involved in the dispute.
