20-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Murder Outside San Jose Nightclub

San Francisco, CALocal News

The San Jose Police Department arrested 20-year-old Mercedes Rosales for the murder of Raymond Orozco, 22, who was fatally stabbed outside a downtown nightclub on July 20. Orozco reportedly intervened in a fight involving one of his female friends, which led to the deadly confrontation. Authorities believe Rosales was the one who wielded the knife, while 18-year-old Micaela Van has been arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to murder. The motive behind the scuffle remains unclear, and no formal charges have been filed against the women. Orozco's family described him as a peacemaker who was trying to protect his friends during the incident.

They have made a public plea for witnesses to come forward, especially those who recorded the fight on their cellphones. A GoFundMe campaign for Orozco's funeral expenses is still short of its $26,000 goal. Orozco worked as a manager at group homes for seniors and had recently been accepted into a fire academy program.
