At Adventist Health Arena, Stockton Unified School District kicked off the 2025–26 school year with an event uniting over 5,000 teachers, staff, and administrators. Superintendent Michelle Rodriguez outlined key objectives, including increasing the graduation rate to over 90% by 2026, building on last year's record 87%. The district also seeks to improve third-grade literacy from 35% to 50% and reduce chronic absenteeism from 29% to 15%. Rodriguez highlighted the importance of parental support for consistent attendance, stating that missing a day equates to losing two days of learning. Board President Kennetha Stevens emphasized the need for collaboration among various departments to achieve common goals.

Director of Communications Melinda Meza described the kick-off as a celebration of past achievements while rallying staff for upcoming challenges. The event featured student performances and prize giveaways, creating an energetic atmosphere. Rodriguez concluded by stating that together, the staff can achieve anything for the students.
