Golden Gate Park concerts expected to bring huge crowds, numerous closures and detours

San Francisco, CALocal News

Dead & Company will perform three concerts in Golden Gate Park this weekend, marking the band's 60th anniversary and prompting extensive road closures. The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department reported that John F. Kennedy Drive and multiple park entrances will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians from July 31 through August 20. Concerts are expected to draw hundreds of thousands of attendees, significantly impacting traffic throughout the city. The Outside Lands Music Festival will follow from August 8-10, with a concert featuring Zach Bryan scheduled for August 15.

Specific closures include sections of John F. Kennedy Drive and numerous entrances on both sides of the park. Mayor Daniel Lurie emphasized the need for travelers to prepare for anticipated traffic delays during this concert series. Non-show days will see limited access to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, which will allow one-way traffic for eastbound vehicles.

A detailed map of road closures and detours is available for public reference.
