Daniel Calderon curates exhibitions at the San Francisco International Airport Museum, the only airport museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. He recently oversaw the installation of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, a monumental piece of community art that honors those lost to the AIDS epidemic and is on display until March 2026. The quilt, which took four years to coordinate, includes nearly 50,000 panels representing over 110,000 individuals. Established in 1980, the SFO Museum features 25 galleries and hosts around 40 exhibitions annually, showcasing topics from Bay Area jazz history to contemporary Indigenous art. Calderon highlights the museum's role in creating meaningful moments for travelers who may otherwise be distracted by their journeys.

Visitors can access exclusive tours by emailing the museum, enhancing its accommodating nature. The museum stands out among the 12 airport museums in the U. S. due to its accreditation, allowing it to borrow significant artifacts from major collections. With over 52 million travelers passing through, the museum serves as a cultural oasis within the bustling airport environment.
