SF hopes upcoming Dead Company concert, Outside Lands festival provide economic boost for city

San Francisco, CALocal News

San Francisco anticipates significant economic benefits from upcoming concerts, including the Grateful Dead's 60th anniversary and the Outside Lands Festival. Mayor Daniel Lurie stated the city will be the music capital of the world for the next three weeks. The recent Dead and Company performance generated $31 million, with hotel demand increasing by 53%. Anna Marie Presutti of SF Travel noted the concerts positively impact retail, small businesses, and restaurants. City officials aim to sustain this momentum by adding more events that cater to public demand.

Hundreds of thousands of "Deadheads" are expected in Golden Gate Park from August 1 to August 3 for the anniversary celebrations. Following this, the Outside Lands Festival will take place from August 8 to August 10. Road closures in Golden Gate Park will begin on July 23, affecting access to concert venues.
