Father-and-Son Team Successfully Rows 2,400 Miles From SF to Hawaii in Record-Setting Feat
Tim Crockett and his son Harrison, a 53-year-old UK Special Forces veteran and his 18-year-old son, made history by rowing 2,400 nautical miles from San Francisco to Hilo, Hawaii. They completed the journey in 48 days, departing from Sausalito on June 3 and arriving late Sunday night. Their boat, named The Kraken, was part of a campaign called “Row to Recovery,” aimed at raising funds for veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries. Their sponsors announced that Harrison is now the youngest person to row the mid-Pacific route. During their journey, the duo faced numerous challenges, including blisters, salt sores, and the threats of massive waves, sharks, and whales.
They alternated 12-hour rowing shifts and made necessary repairs while at sea. The record-setting nature of their trip is pending verification by the Ocean Rowing Society. After their epic journey, the Crockett family is back on dry land, likely taking a well-deserved break from boating.
