Day 124 at the 16th St. Plaza East side of Mission St. resists change

San Francisco, CALocal News

The San Francisco Department of Public Works, the Police Department, and the Ahsing outreach team successfully maintained cleanliness in the west side of Mission Street for the second weekend. However, by Sunday evening, unpermitted vending and drug use emerged again in the northeast plaza and on the east side. Earlier on Sunday, Ahsing crew members picked up trash along Capp Street, which led some vendors to vacate temporarily. Police arrested an individual on Caledonia Street Saturday morning, indicating ongoing enforcement efforts. The presence of BART trucks and cleaning crews initially contributed to maintaining order.

Despite these efforts, the situation on the east side remains a persistent challenge. Sustained initiatives are crucial for addressing public safety and cleanliness in this area. Community engagement and collaboration are essential for long-term solutions.
