The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office identified seven victims from a July 1 explosion at a fireworks storage facility near Esparto, California. Among the deceased are four individuals from the Bay Area, and the explosion resulted in a 78-acre fire that disrupted nearby communities' Fourth of July celebrations. Authorities utilized DNA analysis for identification, and while autopsies were completed, the official causes of death await toxicology results. Two additional individuals were hospitalized due to the incident. Deputy State Fire Marshal Kara Garrett confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, highlighting California's stringent pyrotechnic laws designed to prevent such tragedies.

Families of the victims have established GoFundMe campaigns to help with expenses during this difficult time. Descriptions of the victims portray them as beloved family members and friends, with some having young children. This incident underscores the dangers associated with fireworks storage and the emotional toll on the affected communities.
