UC Berkeley Professor Fatally Shot by Masked Gunman in Broad Daylight While Visiting Kids in Greece

San Francisco, CALocal News

Przemyslaw Jeziorski, a 43-year-old UC Berkeley professor, was shot multiple times on July 4 in Agia Paraskevi, Greece, near his ex-wife’s home. The shooter, described as a tall, athletic man, fled the scene, prompting Greek authorities to consider the possibility of a targeted hit. Jeziorski succumbed to injuries from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and neck, and police are reviewing surveillance footage to gather leads. He was in Greece amid an ongoing custody dispute with his ex-wife, who has cooperated with investigators, claiming no knowledge of any threats against him. Jeziorski joined Berkeley's Haas School of Business in 2012, gaining prominence in marketing and digital advertising.

His colleague Zsolt Katona described him as an outstanding scholar and friend, expressing grief over the loss. A fundraiser initiated by his family aims to cover legal expenses and funeral costs, including the repatriation of his remains to Poland. Jeziorski's death raises concerns about safety and targeted violence against academics involved in contentious personal disputes.
