Mayor Daniel Lurie has extended the First Year Free program, which waives permit fees for new businesses, until June 30, 2026. Unanimously approved by the Board of Supervisors, the initiative aims to bolster local entrepreneurship in San Francisco. The program has supported nearly 11,000 businesses since its launch in 2021, saving them over $5. 95 million in fees. In the past 12 months, it has aided 2,904 businesses by waiving $2.
