Videos capture clash between ICE and protesters

San Francisco, CALocal News

ICE agents clashed with protesters in San Francisco this week during the attempted detention of an immigrant outside the immigration court. Protesters linked arms to block the agents, who responded with pepper spray and batons in a confrontation that escalated quickly. Video footage showed a handcuffed man being escorted to an SUV, with some protesters attempting to grab him before being pushed back. A protester fell off the vehicle's hood as it drove away. A spokesperson from the Department of Homeland Security condemned the actions of the protesters, stating they obstructed law enforcement.

This incident highlights the growing tensions surrounding ICE operations, which have surged since the Trump administration began escalating immigration raids. Since January, ICE has arrested over 5,800 immigrants in California, marking a 123% increase from 2024. Lawmakers are now considering measures to bar ICE from using face coverings during operations.
