Day 120 at the 16th St. Plaza Mission St. calm on the west, hopping on east
Ahsing Solutions began cleaning the west side of Mission Street, significantly improving the area by reducing loitering and maintaining clear sidewalks. By 3 p. m. , around 50 individuals congregated on the east side of Mission Street, where unpermitted vending and open drug use became prevalent by 7 p. m.
While the west side saw a reduction in such activities, a small gathering was observed on Wiese Street. Mobile Unit Two and police returned to the southwest plaza, yet they did not engage with vendors or those using drugs openly. Ahsing Solutions focuses on employing individuals transitioning from jail or recovering from addiction, contributing positively to the community. The presence of vendors selling fruits, vegetables, and beans in the plaza further complicates the area’s dynamics. Officials continue to face challenges in managing public safety while fostering community support.
The situation underscores the need for ongoing dialogue and solutions to address the complexities of urban life.
