PGE commits 50M to help struggling customers pay overdue energy bills

San Francisco, CALocal News

PG&E has committed $50 million to aid customers struggling with overdue energy bills, launching the Match My Payment program as part of this effort. This program matches payments dollar-for-dollar up to $1,000 for low-to-moderate-income customers who contribute at least $50 towards their past-due balance. A minimum outstanding balance of $100 is required to apply for the program, which runs until December 31. Customers can receive matching funds for multiple payments throughout the year, making this initiative flexible for those in need. In addition, the REACH program provides income-eligible customers with up to $300 in bill credits based on their past-due amounts.

Emergency assistance is also available for customers who receive disconnection notices. Qualifying customers who have previously accessed REACH funding can pre-qualify for up to $1,000 in matching funds. This comprehensive support is vital amid rising energy costs and economic pressures.
