San Francisco, CALocal News

San Jose will host its first Fourth of July drone show instead of fireworks after an explosion destroyed the city's supply in Yolo County. The explosion, which occurred on Tuesday, left seven people missing and ignited a fire that expanded to 78 acres. Mayor Matt Mahan credited the city staff for quickly organizing the new event, set to begin at 9 p. m. at Lake Cunningham and featuring live entertainment and food vendors.

Meanwhile, St. Helena will proceed with its planned festivities, including a bike parade and a community band performance. The warehouse responsible for the fireworks, owned by Devastating Pyrotechnics, is under investigation, with the company expressing its condolences for the tragedy. Cal Fire is currently managing the Oakdale Fire, which is 60% contained as of Thursday. The incident underlines the importance of safety in pyrotechnics and has prompted a community response to support those affected.
