Fireworks Explosion Inside Hayward Home Leaves Two In Critical Condition on Eve of the Fourth
A Hayward home experienced two fireworks explosions on Thursday, leaving two individuals in critical condition. Responding to a 911 call, the Hayward Police Department discovered an injured male at the scene, and a second explosion occurred while officers were present, necessitating an evacuation. Both victims were hospitalized due to serious injuries related to the blasts. Firefighters managed to contain the fire caused by the explosions to the garage area. Preliminary investigations indicate that illegal fireworks manufacturing may have occurred at the residence.
The Alameda County Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit has been called in to safely remove any remaining explosives. Illegal fireworks have become a widespread issue in the Bay Area, particularly during July Fourth celebrations, despite efforts by police to deter their use. Residents are urged to report any information regarding the incident to the Hayward Police Department.
